What are Integers???

If you’re just starting to learn about math, you might be wondering what integers are and how they’re different from regular numbers. In this article, we’ll introduce you to the concept of integers and show you how they work.

First of all, what is an integer? An integer is a whole number that can be positive, negative, or zero. Examples of integers include -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, and so on. Unlike fractions or decimals, integers don’t have any fractional parts or decimal points.

So, why do we need integers?

Integers are important because they help us express quantities that are larger or smaller than zero. For example, if you owe $5 to someone, you can represent this as -5 on the number line. If you have $10 in your bank account, you can represent this as +10 on the number line.

Integers allow us to represent a wide range of values, both positive and negative.

One way to visualize integers is to imagine a number line.

On a number line, positive integers are located to the right of zero, and negative integers are located to the left of zero. Zero itself is neither positive nor negative, so it’s located at the center of the number line.
